It is easier than ever to submit to the Horror Library. We will select five pieces every month to run live on our SlushPile page. We do not pay for the stories. We can only offer the notoriety that comes with being published on a top rated web site. www tiffanyteen com pic

We want anything of the horror genre. It should fit under the broad umbrella that the genre covers. Sub genres include classic type monster tales (vampires, werewolves, zombies), modern dark fiction, science fiction (as long as some form of horror is present), dark humor, psychological thriller, splatterpunk, slipstream, dark fantasy, speculative fiction. It can be full throttle horror or very subtle. www tiffanyteen com pic
Please no partial stories, unless they can stand on their own. We won't take it under the pretense that we can put up another chapter later. Please send your manuscript complete and clean. We will not edit a good story with poor syntax. We will be forced to reject it. www tiffanyteen com pic

1) All files must be saved in either a .doc or .rtf format. Please DO NOT send embedded in the body of an e-mail. This is just a formatting nightmare.
2) Any special formatting such as italics or bolding must have appropriate html tags. For italics place < i > before and < /i > after; for bold it's < b > before and < /b > after (no spaces). If you are having a really tough time with this, z-mail me and I will see what I can do to help you out.
3) Please leave only ONE line between paragraphs and please leave ONE LINE between paragraphs. It is much easier for people to read when there is a space between paragraphs and setting it up in the formatting of your paragraphs does not translate when posted. I require one hard return between paragraphs. It takes a large amount of my time to have to go through a story and add or delete lines. We're looking for the highest quality examples of all forms of Dark Fiction, running the gamut from traditional horror, supernatural, speculative, psychological thriller, including every point between and especially beyond. Read Butcher Shop Quartet to see what's already pleased us. Special consideration will be given those pieces that we find profoundly disturbing, though blood and violence on their own won't cut it, so if that's all you can manage, take it elsewhere. DARK RECESSES PRESS is a quarterly downloadable PDF magazine catering to horror/dark fiction and art.
We are looking for horror/dark fiction pieces between 500-5000 words. Longer works are a tough sell but may be considered if they knock us off our seats. Common sense when submitting please. We do not accept stories that involve the sexual abuse/exploitation of minors. We are not looking for pure shock value. All components of your story should have merit. Gore for gore's sake is not what we are looking for. We want to give nightmares that happen during the waking hours. All stories will be accompanied by illustrations. www tiffanyteen com picWe have raised our pay rate to 3 cents/word with a $150.00 cap beginning with issue #5. All payments are made in US funds. With this raise in our rates, it is important to note that works up around our maximum word limit will be harder to place as we will be accepting no more than two of those per issue. We offer a $50 US payment for cover art. For story illustrations however, we can only offer exposure along with a $5 token payment at this time. Each issue will contain 7-8 stories that will require accompanying artwork and we are open to all forms and mediums of dark art. We require that all artwork be electronically available and saved at 200 dpi in RGB format, preferably saved as a .jpg file. www tiffanyteen com pic
